So… a week in and things seem to be going ok.
Monday 28th July - 5 miles
Wednesday 30th July - 6 miles
Friday 1st August - 6 miles
Sunday 3rd August - 8 miles
Monday 4th August - 8 miles
The first thing I’ve noticed is that compared to when I was fit and cycling all the time my ass really hurts. On Saturday I went to Edinburgh Cycle Co-operative in Byker, and had a look at the saddles. The saddle that came on the Orbea is a Selle Italia, and it’s like sitting on a razor blade. So I picked up one of these:

However, I can’t tell a lot of difference to be honest. My ass gives up way before my legs and lungs do! I might buy a gel saddle cover and see if that helps. I’m sure once I’m down a few stone there will be less pressure and weight on my seating area and things will be more comfortable.
Still, I’ve lost 2 more lbs.
