Todays target was 25 miles, and after 4 miles I wanted to get off. It seemed like everything hurt, especially my arse. However, as corny as it sounds, I try and live by Lance Armstrong’s quote:
“Pain is temporary, quitting lasts is forever”.
Yeah, yeah there’s a huge difference between not being bothered to do 25 miles and finishing the Tour de France, I know that. For me, failure is not hitting the target I’ve set for myself, even if that is only 25 miles. 25 miles to most cyclists is nothing more than a warm up, but to someone who weighs just under 19 stone, 25 miles is like a sportive. It’s also a long time in the saddle with 19 stone bearing down on your backside.
The good thing is I watched Underworld Evolution while I was on the trainer. It’s off topic, but I’m looking forward to the third Underworld film next year (as well as Star Trek, Harry Potter, Fast and Furious, Terminator Salvation, The A Team, X-Men Origins, etc).
Bed time. I should sleep pretty well tonight…
