Hey everyone,
I know this is completely off topic, but I want to give one of my friends a bit of a plug and possibly provide a little publicity from a different market.
My friend Lucy Bowden runs a fishing club in Northumberland, specifically for women either looking to get into fishing or who already fish and are looking to join up with like minded ladies. She’s really friendly and helpful, and there’s a level 2 instructor called Rebecca Thorpe in the club too (mind you, Lucy will knack me if I don’t mention she’s currently taking her level 2 course too). Fishing is traditionally a man’s domain (as is cycling) but there’s more and more ladies getting into both fishing and cycling, which can only be a good thing in my opinion. Lucy is doing so much for the profile of the sport for women, and her club is easily the biggest and most mature women’s club in England, based on experience, knowledge, passion and a desire to really develop the sport.

Fishing for Everyone
I know a lot of us go riding on a Saturday or Sunday and leave our loved ones at home (which doesn’t always go down too well) and I know it won’t be up everyone’s street, but why not get our wives/girlfriends to go along and have a go!
Lucy is currently doing vouchers for a days fishing - I think it’s a great idea. I know a few cycling widows who should maybe be encouraged to join Lucy for a day’s fishing…!
For more details on the voucher scheme - here’s the link and don’t forget to mention you heard about it from me. Brownie points are a good thing, people!!!
You can read Lucy’s blog at: blog.fishingforeveryone.com, or visit her website at www.fishingforeveryone.com.
Lucy works for Hardy & Greys Ltd (http://www.hardyfishing.com/en-gb/home/), who in cycling terms are the Colnago of the fishing world - and they are hand crafted right here in the heart of Northumberland - their kit is that sexy is almost enough to make me give fishing a try!
Shameless plug over.
