Another plug - another weight loss hero

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

It’s very easy to get in the mindset that you’re the only person struggling with weight and training. You become bogged down with calories, heart rates, mileage and arranging everything around family life and work commitments. But the truth of the matter is, I’m not the only person doing this - there’s people all round the world in the middle of the same battle - fighting with will power and trying their hardest to keep their hand out of the cookie jar and firmly on the handlebar. Ooh… I like that - “Out the cookie jar and on the handlebar”…

One such person is Carrie. Carrie sent me a friend request on Facebook a while ago as someone who had been reading my blog, and in an attempt to garner as many “followers” as possible I accepted. Within a few days Carrie and I were having regular exchanges, as it turned out she lived locally to me and was seriously wanting to lose weight cycling. I’m cynical at best, and I don’t tend to share myself with people unless they demonstrate desire and determination and the ability to listen to advice and act on it (I’ve encountered a serious time waster recently who has ignored every bit of advice offered) and quite frankly, I’m busy and I don’t have the inclination and patience for time wasters. Carrie has proved she is no such thing and as such, I have all the time in the World for her.

Carrie has come a long way in the short time I have known her. She now rides with the Vags every Saturday, which from experience I can tell you can be a daunting prospect. She also rides in to Ponteland and back (from Ashington no less) so her rides on a Saturday are hitting the 60 mile mark - which is more than me!

Carrie has herself started a blog, and I encourage anyone who reads my blog to mosy on over there and give her the support and encouragement you have given me, as she deserves it just as much as (if not more so) than I did.

I just want to take the opportunity to say well done to Carrie, and let her know that in addition to her family and regular friends, she has my support and encouragement whenever she needs it.
